Glass Cylinder Entry, Apple Shanghai Store

This glass entry pavilion for Apple’s underground retail store in Shanghai is similar to the glass cube on Fifth Avenue in New York, but is cylindrical rather than square. Again, large glass panels are used, but the curve adds engineering difficulty to the fitting design.

TriPyramid worked with the design team to develop and manufacture all the specialized fittings required to connect the glass panels. Flat, high-strength stainless steel patch fittings tie the panels to each other and to the stabilizer glass fins. Welded corner patches tie the panels to the roof glass, and flat, stainless steel straps connect the glass roof beams and canopy.
