650 Madison Avenue

Located in Manhattan’s midtown business district, the lobby entrance for 650 Madison was renovated to match the blockfront of surrounding retail zones. The main façade entrance was converted to a rod-supported glass wall with a central 21-foot long structural portal frame.

TriPyramid Structures collaborated with the architect and glazing contractor to develop details for the rods, rod connection hardware and large-scale portal. TriPyramid machined and finished the portal components from solid 3-1/2-inch thick stainless steel plate to ensure flatness and a perfect execution of the meticulous aesthetic details. The concealed base weldments allow the full portal frame to install in one step. The portal was therefore welded completely, mirror polished as a unit, and shipped to site. The glass and glass standoff assemblies were provided by W&W Glass and mirror polished by TriPyramid Structures.
