Atrium Wall, NY Presbyterian Hospital
This unique glass wall brings light into a large atrium. The structural system is made up of a series of horizontal trusses with a steel front chord with integral struts and a stressed cable back chord, to create “hybrid” Vierendeel trusses. Vertical deadload cables keep the trusses from sagging while carrying the dead weight of the glazing units.
TriPyramid worked with the architect and structural engineer as the design and structure were developed. Then TriPyramid collaborated with the glazing contractor to develop the final details and, finally, supplied all structural components for the wall.
