Hudson Park Boulevard Subway Station Canopies
These stainless steel and glass canopies provide large shelter areas over the entrances to the 34th Street Station in Hudson Park, but utilize only three pin-connections to the ground. The free-form edge beams support the curved grid shell structure and glass (by others), while diagonal cables running between the grid structure and glass stiffen the system.
TriPyramid Structures aided in overcoming the three-dimensional design challenges the shell shape presented. We used 3D modeling software to coordinate and optimize the geometry of the cable crossing nodes and termination hardware, reducing the system to two unique node assemblies. TriPyramid manufactured the diagonal cables, node hardware and termination hardware from 316 SS and shipped it to site.
