Jenny Holzer Sculpture, Kind of Blue, 2012

Nine lines of LED illuminated text float almost fifty feet across the floor in Kind of Blue at The Modern in Fort Worth, Texas. TriPyramid collaborated with artist Jenny Holzer to create a low-profile custom aluminum extrusion to house the LED display. A total of 108, six-inch wide extrusions, 12 per row, link together with internal alignment pins to provide a seamless presentation. The last extrusion in each row tapers gracefully, creating the illusion that the text disappears into the floor. The extrusions, as well as the 1,728 screws that fasten the LED boards to them, are painted to disappear against the stone, leaving the words hovering in space.
