Roof Trusses, Apple Broadway Store
This store features a curved glass roof supported by a series of minimal steel and stainless steel trusses.
In very close collaboration with the rest of the design team, TriPyramid developed the details for these 65-foot-long trusses and for the purlins, which sit above the trusses supporting the glass panels. The truss upper chords are a large weldment of parallel steel plates, one inch thick by 15 inches tall, separated by three inches of steel infill, then seal welded the entire length on both upper and lower surfaces. The lower chords are 1-1/2 inch diameter, high-strength stainless steel rods. The trusses and purlins were fabricated by TriPyramid to incredibly tight tolerances and finish standards, far in excess of even AESS requirements.
