Slumped Glass Support Hardware, Condé Nast Cafeteria

One of the features of the dining area designed by architect Frank Gehry is a series of large, organically shaped, slumped glass panels which define passage ways and create private spaces.

TriPyramid worked with the architects, various structural engineers, and glass experts to develop and test a fitting system that could hold the 800 pound panels without breaking the low-strength annealed glass. The fittings minimized stresses by way of a spherical connection in the plane of the glass, and were customized to accommodate the different weights and geometries of the various panels. After completion of this involved design and testing process, TriPyramid manufactured and supplied the support hardware.
