Solar Light Pipe
The light pipe is designed to “pipe” sunlight down the otherwise dark shaft in a Washington, D.C. office building, lighting the sides of the shaft on the way down as well as the floor at the bottom.
TriPyramid worked with the artist and structural engineer to develop the support system for the light pipe. All connections had to be as small as possible, and be aesthetically pleasing when viewed at close range from windows at the intermediate floors. All parts were manufactured by TriPyramid to very tight tolerances to ensure ease of field assembly and maintain the level of finish the artist intended.
